Considering the theme of International Women’s Day 2020, “I am Generation Equality” and realizing women’s right, Hotel Shambala conducted a programme, “She Empowerment” to reflect on progress made by women employee of the hotel, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by the women employee of the hotel, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their work life.
Hotel Shambala believes change isn’t just about big headline flashes, legal victories and international agreements; the way we talk, think, and act in everyday life at workplace can create a wave effect that benefits everyone. So, Shambala aimed to review their progress in women empowerment and how they can address and promote gender equality in workplace. All the women employees of Shambala participated in the session to propose their opinions on gender-related issue. The participants were able to provide a wide range of topics, from the role of stereotypes in fairytales to the human rights instruments linked to gender. The participants were challenged to rethink their perceptions on empowerment, thereby increasing their awareness of the importance of equality and dignity. The session reached its aims and objectives to a great extent.
Furthermore, the session made it clear that empowerment has different meanings to different people and finally, we were able to learn effective practices, explore common problems and discover tools to address these issues.
